These first experiments demonstrate what the full colour background image looks like with black text, which is partially solved in giving the image less opacity. White also works to an extent, but it ends up being illegible around the area of the cars at the bottom of the page.
I also scaled it down and moved it around my layout to see if this worked within the text. Because of the size of the document, A6 a page, and the restrictive 2 column maximum copy, it's difficult to wrap the image to fit around the text. Therefore, I think the best way to have imagery on the editorial is to use it as a background image, and to utilise the white text to gain legibility.
